C.I.C.N.SCenter of Information and Counseling on New Spiritualities Charter
The
CICNS is an independent center open to new spiritualities and to everyone
seriously wishing to be informed about them. It fills an obvious gap of
objective and rigorous information on the question of spirituality in our
time. The integration of new expressions of spiritual search represents a
challenge for our society. This challenge is at present taken up neither by
authorities nor by the public at large. On the contrary, an odious campaign
is going on to totally discredit spiritual commitment up to its very roots. The
CICNS provides a space for information and counseling to every person and
movement concerned with freely awakening, nourishing and promoting spiritual
search under all its legal forms. It also works on informing authorities and
the public, and presents itself as a reliable partner on the question of
today’s new spiritualities. The
CICNS does not judge the value of the diverse spiritual paths of its members. It
stands for a neutrality that is missing in media, justice and anti-cult
activists today. It indeed founds its outlook on the knowledge of the
natural place of spiritual search in a human society, which is at present
victim of its superficial orientations. Human
beings naturally aspire to find and live fully the meaning of their
existence. The condemnation that spiritual search has to bear today –
summarized for the general public under the derogatory term “cult” –
is born of the tendentious and revolting mixing up perpetuated by people and
groups engaged in a crusade against spirituality at large. Criminal
acts of a few individuals in the world have been used to justify an
exceptional campaign of discrimination in Members
of the CICNS do not deny the existence of criminal acts and accept without
reserve as citizens and if the facts are proven that they may be judged and
sentenced whatever the personal conviction and allegiance of their authors.
But the existence of our center is justified by the fact that these acts,
sometimes not elucidated, lead today to a campaign of disinformation on the
nature of spiritual search, to a confusion of ideas that the population has
accepted as a whole, to discriminations, to injustices and human tragedies
of which we have numerous examples and reports in our archives. This
situation which can be compared to a new obscurantism is unacceptable in a
society declaring itself to be democratic. The
CICNS has therefore been established to represent those who see themselves
in this observation and who wish to see the situation evolve. Consequently,
to become a member of the CICNS also implies some responsibilities: -
Members of
the CICNS are necessarily engaged in a process that aims at restoring
dignity to man, expressing his potential, revealing his true and profound
nature, freeing him from the burden of materialism and promoting humane and
spiritual values in our society. The CICNS reserves the right to deny
membership to people or groups who would advocate destructive or criminal
actions. -
Members of
our association are conscious whatever their beliefs of the necessity to
respect laws in force in our country. They nevertheless reserve (themselves)
the right to denounce laws that would not respect the natural right to live
and express one’s own choices of life, as extravagant as they may seem to
the general public. -
Members of
our association have at heart to respect all forms of belief, avoiding to
draw hasty conclusions and pronounce gut judgments or common place
statements on the diverse forms of spiritual search. They are particularly
careful to observe for themselves, above all, how the collective
conditioning could lead them, in spite of themselves, to thoughtless
condemnations with which they would unavoidably become victims themselves. -
The
sensibility of the members of our association goes for a peaceful approach
for restoring truth on the question of new spiritualities.
